West Side Sinfonietta is an ensemble bringing together the musicians of the National Forum of Music in Wrocław and the Szczecin Philharmonic. This initiative is unique in Poland and even Europe.
Musicians from both leading cultural institutions based in western Poland share diverse artistic experiences, giving great and passionate concerts. The orchestra does not play under a conductor’s baton, but is directed by the violinist. And thus eminent musicians play-direct the West Side Sinfonietta: its concert masters Paweł Maślanka and Marcin Danilewski. They form the core of the ensemble together with the excellent double bass player Jacek Sosna.
The orchestra's repertoire is varied, including both classical and salon music. The orchestra enjoys the friendly patronage of Andrzej Kosendiak, director of the NFM, and Dorota Serwa, Director of the Szczecin Philharmonic.
